Back In Chains…Y’all!

You’d think that being Vice President and giving a speech in a crowded room filled with TV cameras, photographers and disgruntled reporters, (the ones who got the bogus assignment rather than the cool ride on Air Force One), that you might have actually prepared by writing down what you were going to say and then reading it over a time or two for syntax, (spelling wouldn’t matter, I guess), grammar, relevance and the inclusion of any potentially incendiary metaphor that might cause a week-long shitstorm of pointless analysis and outrage.  Well, you might think that…but you’re not Joe Biden.

That said, y’all, Jiltin’ Joe was no more implying that if the Republicans win the White House that they intend to revisit slavery, than Mitt is clueless about why it speaks to his character and patriotism that he has blatantly sheltered his riches from taxation, (no…that’s a crappy analogy since it does and Joe wasn’t).  Nevertheless, in a campaign devoid of even the merest promise of substance, perhaps this is all we can hope for.  The media is certainly culpable for jumping on the batshit bandwagon by dredging up opportunistic turncoats like Artur Davis, (this election’s Joe Lieberman), assuming the role of the incensed, black representative of, (well, actually, he doesn’t really represent anyone anymore), the descendants of human chattel, while failing to mention that the fallen rising star of the Democratic Party is just trying to keep his relevance freak on even if that requires a 180º turn in his beliefs and morals just to get his moment in the Republic Party sun.

Does it bother anyone else that the real theme of the Biden speech was successfully hijacked by the feigned harumphing of the Right?  Is the most expensive election in history going to remain totally devoid of substance?  Are We, the people, going to continue to validate our already paralyzed and divisive legislature, guaranteeing a prolonged paralysis and a wider divide by refusing to have a responsible and intelligent debate about…well, anything?

Yeah…probably.
