Those Muslims, those Jews, those Christians, them Budhists…those whites, blacks, Mexicans, Chinese…gays, straights, vegans.  I suppose animals may also have issues with their species specific differences; it’s hard to imagine that the Chihuahua and the Great Dane have much in common; the Siamese acts as though it has no use for other cats; and the white rhino…well, I guess there’s no issue there since the black rhino became officially extinct this week.  But we humans are determined to make our differences in appearance and culture and cockamamie ideology be our undoing.  I certainly have my irrational intolerances.  I simply cannot embrace stupid people; not the slow learners or mentally impaired or educationally deprived, but the defenders of misguided religious, moral and social values that call for the devaluation of others’ humanity…those stupid people.

The Supreme Court passed down two very different decisions this week, both embarrassedly partisan five/four votes, on two very opposite ends of the blue/red spectrum, and, to my amazement, in agreement with my personal opinion.  The Voting Rights Act, designed to punish southern states that just couldn’t come to grips with the reality of the “equality” part of our nation’s founding principles, was extraneous and unnecessary, (not because bigotry is “a thing of the past”, as the five insular, robed, dumb-assed justices wrote in their decention), because the law of our land is that every citizen is entitled to his or her vote and anyone who fucks with that is already breaking that law.  And DOMA, (shame on you Bill Clinton), was so blatantly unconstitutional, that the four minority judges, those people who voted to keep it in force, should be immediately removed from the bench.

Is anybody else sickened by all of the politco panels discussing how Republicans need to do better with women, Hispanics, (make that minorities in general), gays?  Really?  How long are we going to amass categories of differences to overcome rather than the commonality that is the only hope for our survival?  I really hate those people.
