There’s been a bit more talk about the notion of the two, very separate Americas as a result of the numerous, relentlessly replayed clips of Bill de Blasio’s swearing in as mayor of NYC.  It didn’t gain much traction as an issue in the last presidential campaign and as a bi-product of the ever more confusing political landscape, many of those who should be outraged, (at the very least frightened), are endorsing beliefs and programs contrary to their own well-being.  This gap between the very wealthy, (reported as the 1%, but probably less), and everyone else is not a blip on some economic time-line, but an escalating trend that is dismantling the foundation of the one America most of us thought we were living in.  Corporate responsibility to the bottom line, (probably correctly hi-lited by CEO wannabes in scholarly business texts ad infinitum), that disregards the responsibility to American workers, the environment and the tax-based revenues necessary to maintain and innovate public systems and infrastructure, can only result in disaster.  Frankly, we me have already gone too far.
