We Are Humpty

Like the balance-challenged Mr. Dumpty, we are teetering, possibly one fall away from not being able to be put back together again. I could hold true to form and simply rage against the moronic lunacy of the Republican, (Conservative? Trumpian?), freak show, but the culpability for our pending demise runs far deeper.

There is certainly a traceable, historically supported analysis on the rise of civilizations, their governance and subsequent collapse, along with debatable, scholarly opinion on the causes and effects thereof. I hold, that in every instance, (except maybe the Mayans, whom obviously were whisked away by aliens), for which my semi-enthusiastic devotion to history has gained me enlightenment, the leaders, the self-proclaimed kings, queens and Hottentots, the war-lording bullies and conniving Evangelical mind-benders, attained their ascendance by force, or other dastardly manipulation, seizing power until its inevitable corruption and resultant disenfranchisement of the masses led to their vulnerability to revolution from within or attack from more maniacal marauders from without. Today, the chaotic hodgepodge of world powers, roiling in the magma-like pool of out-dated royalty, despicable despots, unholy religious fundamentalists, conscienceless CEO’s, opportunistically unrepresentative public office holders and the parasites that feed off of the resultant loss of equilibrium of it all, has created a new world order of a disassociated, misinformed and apathetic population. (This is where I should apologize for slipping back into my rant against Republicans, but, try as I might, I can’t find a shred of kindness or decency anywhere in their ranks). The rise in the tide of the worst of our nature is the seismic event that will lead to our fall. And then, all the king’s horses…
