Boo!

We like being scared.  I’m sure there’s a detailed psychological explanation for that particular phenomenon, but it’s a thing, right?  Peek-a-booing infants, eliciting gales of giggly startled delight by making our siblings and childhood friends jump out of their skins, subjecting ourselves to houses of horror, death-drop-three-loop-double-corkscrew thrill rides and B-movies that become the playlists for our future nightmares, they’re all integral to our collective experience.  But, in the closing days of this midterm election, the tactic of the President and the Party of the President, (whatever the fuck it wants to call itself), to promote baseless and blatantly false conspiracy theories aimed at terrifying uninformed voters to run toward the shelter of their protection, is akin to the actions of the most heinous and murderous despots of history. The most unhinged occupant of the Oval Office, (yes, I remember Nixon’s complete and very public psychological breakdown), has become unhinged-er…way unhinged-er.  He’s threatening to send our armed forces to the Mexican border to defend us from a non-existent marauding invasion.  He’s claiming to have the authority to re-write the 14th amendment to the US Constitution by Executive Order.  He’s on a non-stop campaign rally, eliciting the loving cheers of adoring fans with lie after bald-faced lie, stirring their worst fears, suspicions and racist proclivities that has escalated into all too real, heart-breaking violence and death.  He is the Boogey Man, and it’s time to vote against anyone who would provide any further oxygen to his scary shenanigans.
