Mother?

Let me just get this out of the way…FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

The Coronavirus pandemic is something that was, but a mere two months ago, just a far-fetched plot for a doomsday mini-series or a preposterous Dwayne Johnson movie.  Raise your hand if you had the slightest inkling that most of the world would ever be hunkered down like it is today.  Unimaginable…right?  Yet, here we all are, most of us physically disengaged from one another, crazily washing our hands, sewing masks, taking stock of our pantries, contemplating toilet paper alternatives and becoming less and less picky about what to stream next.  This is not the time and place, although that goes against type, for me to go off on the utter incompetence of the world leaders, most egregiously our own, who history will hold accountable for countless lives lost unnecessarily.  My fathoms-deep hatred for these soulless twits has left me drained.  So, contrary to form…have you noticed how sweet the air smells?  Have you seen the posts of the Grand Canal, Beijing, Mexico City and LA?  I mean, we locked ourselves away a few weeks ago and Mother Nature said, “That’s what I’m talkin’ about”, and she got busy on some heavy duty spring cleaning; once murky water became magically unclouded to reveal returning fish that had been absent for decades; smog-choked urban streets are now bathed in unfiltered sunshine; and the sound…a glorious, nearly unchallenged chorus of birdsongs.  Check out this formula I’ve been working on:

Nature – People = 😃

Maybe, just maybe, please, pretty, pretty please, once we cower our way through this most real, most existential threat of our lifetimes, we can slink back into our streets with a better understanding of just how fragile and insignificant we humans are and be aware and mindful that Mother [Nature] really does know best.
