This week, global temperature watchers registered the four hottest days EVER, since around 1880 when recording such things crossed someone’s mind. These hottest-ever days were not by slight, incrementally expected variations, but by .5º on Tuesday, .8º on Wednesday and Thursday and almost 1º on Friday. This is meteorologically scary shit. We, the Earth’s human inhabitants, are doing far too little to change the things we have done and continue to do and there is nothing about the on-going conversation that would indicate we are anything but near-future toast. For most of the industrialized world, the response to the week’s swelter was to retreat to overly-air conditioned “comfort” which, not uncoincidentally, adds to global warming. THE END
