As the powder keg, aka: The Middle East, moves ever so closer to devastating detonation, nations like our own, with divested economical interests, increase the volume of their useless mumblings about how the perceived combatants on each side of their line in the sand, should approach a diplomatic peace. While my most sincere wish upon any star or blown birthday candle or fountain penny is for World Peace, (and this makes my skin crawl to write out loud), there can never be peace from Holy War. In this Holy War, (basically a real estate dispute over divinely bequeathed properties…it would be cynical to think that keeping a military toe in the oil rich water would have anything to do with it), thousands of years of talk/scuffle, chat/fight, negotiate/attack, summit/bombard, have been stymied by a single irreconcilable truth; as long as people think of themselves as fundamentally different, and those differences are blessed and rewarded by God, there is no wiggle room for coexistence. In calmer times, the stew of very diverse and biblically adversarial people have blissfully blindered themselves from the distractions of crazy fundamentalists who wear their “Chosen” badges on their bloody sleeves, and time and time again, polemic difference, rather than the commonality of love for life and fellow man, has returned tranquility to chaos. Every horror of our cumulative DNA, (natural disasters and just Whom may be responsible excluded), has been the direct result of Holy Crusades, and neither the lessons of history nor the interdependence of our global community has nudged us any closer together.
As I sit here, wishing I were wise enough to have answers rather than questions, I am perplexed by my own personal life experience. I have traveled the world. I have met thousands of people, as different in their ethnicity, geography and economy as a world-view pollster’s dream, and my sampling would indicate, by a wide margin, that my thesis is in error. Holy Crap!

Note to Mitt: You need to get over the fact that anyone cares about anything you think or say. Soon, very soon, no one will remember who you are. Take your Bain and your Capital and return to Kolob where they appreciate such things.
