Thinly disguised as giving a shit about the events surrounding the tragic attack on the US diplomatic mission in Benghazi, the irrepressible Congressional Republicans began their blatant anti-Hillary campaign this week. I’m not sure if they will be able to keep up the pressure for the three years until the next election, but with little else to occupy their time, (except for maybe that ‘Repeal Obama Care Vote’), it’s possible that this will be the only focus of the 113th Congress.
Sometime in the last dozen years or so, (definitely before I felt compelled to write my weekly rant), something fundamentally changed. The basic concept of political wrangling to impose the will of one party’s agenda over another’s, yet with the conceit of some element of public welfare at its core, has been upended by a lunatic, conservative gang of morons who offer no real alternative to the far less than perfect, blurry Democratic platform. I have read just enough history to know that the corruption of power has never been absent from governance, but never in that history has there ever been a more irresponsible body politic than we have currently elected. They are undermining everything about what made us vibrant, innovative, special…admired, and have needlessly forced millions of our citizens into third-world status. We have lost the clarity of any voice of reason to the louder, (much, much louder), voices of nonsensical blather, where science, logic, common sense, empirical data and, oh yeah, truth are bested by whateverthefuckbullshitanyidiotcangetinfrontofacameratosay. Pointless!
