Kansas

Sam Brownback is a second term Governor of Kansas.  He is a non-apologetic, ultra-conservative, evangelical Republican who ran on a platform of slashing all taxes but especially corporate taxes, believing in the bogus idea that giving big businesses a virtual free ride would ignite their natural tendency toward socio-economic altruism, creating jobs, stirring growth and maintaining and building on everything that enticed Dorothy to return home from Oz.  Enacting this strategy has all but bankrupted the state.  Kansas’s major industries are cattle, bio-chemistry, (GMO’s), and fracking natural gas. They are all government subsidized. As this revenue crisis continues to grow, Brownback and his trusty advisors have doubled down on this madness by bending to every lobbyist’s whim.  Perhaps I am missing some theological angle that the very, very Christian majority of Kansians, (best I could come up with), have tucked away in a hymnal somewhere, but without a Deus ex Machina, Kansas is in deep shit.  This week, action was taken to right the leaky ship of state.  The legislature passed and Brownback signed a budget referendum, which reduces educational spending to, well…practically nothing.  Sam’s accompanying statement in support of bitch-slapping all of Kansas’s school children spoke to the “unsustainable burden of the state’s education expenditures”.  Apparently, he is too stupid to realize how stupid and dangerous it is to condemn Kansas to a future where everybody will be…‘stoopid’.

Go Jayhawks!
