Mr. Bluster

I guess the sour-faced meanie from The Howdy Doody Show was Buffalo Bob Smith’s benign way of introducing us kids to the reality of braggarts and bullies that we would all inevitably encounter.  Although he was scary to the four and five-year-old me, his nasty outbursts were always vanquished by the goodness of Howdy, Clarabell, Dilly Dally, the Flub-A-Dub and Princess Summerfallwinterspring before the end of each show.  Mr. B’s present day counterpart, Mr. T, (who shamelessly pities no fool), is way scarier than a marionette and has become absurdly revered, even by those whose noses he chidingly rubs in the dirt of his political playground.  I keep thinking, (because that’s what’s required of my species, right?), that at some point, (surely by now, I muse), there would be a lot of giggling and heckling and shouts of, “Get that stupid haircut off the stage!”  But…no.  The silver-spooned moron in the expensive, (I know this because he’s told us over and over again), suits with the glitzy personal air transport and the stupid, (cancelled), TV show and the myriad of buildings and golf courses, (equal parts success and failure), TRUMPeting his name, has everything wrong except his recognition of how many millions of people, whom he would happily throw under his bus, want to be just like him.  He belittles anyone who isn’t like him…and because he’s convinced there really is no one like him…he belittles everyone…the Mexicans, the Chinese, the entire Middle East, women, (especially that ugly, ugly Heidi Klum), real reporters, pretend Fox News reporters, anyone with a cogent thought…me!  He epitomizes the antithesis of the goodness in human nature.  He preaches devisiveness in race, gender, religion, nationality and economic station and his cheering minions, (disturbingly similar to the animated yellow cuties in search of an evil master), don’t seem that different from the enthusiastic, drooling crowds enamored by a rising Adolf Hitler.  I know…I know…your’re never supposed to use the AH reference, and I’m not saying that The Donald could go that batshit crazy…well, unless he thought it was a good deal.
