As Donald Trump continues to double down on his inflammatory romp through America, playing to the fears and disappointments of his millions of drooling, hate-filled, poorly educated, intolerant, misinformed followers, the news clips, sound bites, twitter feeds and the resultant, endless conversation are all disturbingly devoid of veracity, compassion or any hint of a common thread of civility. While the media and the shell-shocked conservative center feign shock, (maybe awe), at the seemingly unstoppable avalanche of Trump momentum, Rubio has begun shrinking into a twitching, little boy lost stature, Cruz continues thumping his bible in earnest to remind everyone who god really wants to be president and the idiocy that is American politics has begun the surreal trotting out of Republican after Republican taking the ridiculous “pledge” to support whomever, (Donald Trump), becomes the party’s nominee. If we have become that country whose suppressed bigotry, anger and raging hate is, in fact, more widespread than most would dare to believe, and if Donald is continually cheered for his defense of the First Amendment, (you know, the one that says you can say whatever you want and punch anybody in the face that disagrees with you), all the way to the White House, then I’ll soon be blogging from a Trudeau-comfy spot a few miles north…a?
