I smiled, just typing her name. Listening to her sing, being taken in by the poetry of her lyrics and the simple harmonic complexity of her music takes me to a whole other happy place. In the few years that I’ve known Ariana, I have been witness to the confidence and ease with which she can take any stage and turn unfamiliar listeners into devoted fans while her ever-growing choir shouts out their favorite titles from her formidable repertoire.
What she’s doing now, what I feel privileged to be helping her create, is recording a collection of new material, Head Full of Stars, that celebrates her growth as an artist with a keen, playful, compassionate eye on the tumultuous world around her, in the hopeful, incomparable voice that is the heart and soul of Ariana Gillis.
