What Matters

It’s certainly not the crap that gets the most press and attention.

Politics obviously doesn’t matter.  The baseless bullshit that masquerades for the causes and programs proposed by candidates and incumbents alike has minimal cumulative import and even less inherent benefit to the health, safety or emotional well-being of us, our pets or our fragile ecosystem.

The economy doesn’t really matter.  The manipulation of currencies, commodities, real estate and the assorted goods and services that comprise the indexes that fuel the passions of economists and fund-managers is a dastardly blatant conspiracy by evil, power-hungry, uh…manipulators.  The rigged game only benefits the very, very few top players, (at least until the revolution.  Right, Bernie?).

Religion doesn’t matter.  In the Evil v Good conflict, the evils within and without of the world’s organized, crazy quilt of secular mumbo jumbo, so far outweigh the good that, at the very least, religion ought to throw in the towel and give us all a moment’s peace.

Love matters.  I don’t know if it’s all you need or if it will find a way, if it’s just around the corner or just a bowl of cherries, but I do know that it fires off some slammin’ endorphins, makes you involuntarily tingle in the strangest places, may be the answer and could quite possibly make the world go ‘round.

And, as far as I can tell…that’s it.
