My Bad

I’m told, it takes a big man to admit his mistakes.  I don’t know if I’ll ever be thought of as a big man.  I mean, I’ve never been physically confrontational.  I’ve never been to war, never even been in a fight, unless you call having the shit kicked out of you by Brad Lindsey every day after junior high being in a fight.  I have marched and protested, even gotten arrested in Chicago for passing out McCarthy literature, but I missed the beatings, tear gas and fire-hosing.  I’ve always thought that my intellect was more powerful than my unimposing stature so, I’ve spoken out and/or written formally and informally whenever I had a strong opinion pro or con.  I’ve been a weekly blogger for more than thirteen years and have addressed issues dire and frivolous, always attempting to fact check the theses I present as fairly as possible before working myself up and flying off into shameless name-calling and hyperbole.  As a political junky, during most of the past eighteen months I have been consumed by the primaries and the election, a surreal circus so unimaginable that I am still hoping to awaken from the worst dream I’ve ever dreamed.  I have been steadfast in my criticism of Donald J. Trump, now the 45th President of the United States of America, and I will summarize some of my vitriol by saying that he is the most heinous national office-seeker in my memory and a shameful representative for the principles of freedom and democracy.  But…although I just couldn’t watch his swearing in or listen to his speech, I was too weak  not to read what he had to say.  True to form, it was mostly self-congratulatory, unspecific bullshit.  “Hey, everybody…I’m hear and everything’s better, starting here and starting now!”, (I’m paraphrasing despite the quotes).  Here’s my mea culpa.  I have been constantly critical of DJT’s blowhard, baseless rhetoric.  Today, however, the new POTUS played his Trump card, announcing that, “above all, god is in charge”, (these would be legitimate quotes).  So, I apologize.  I guess we’re all good.
