Apolitical

It’s not just me, right?  I mean, this is some uncharted crazy shit going on, and not in a better-than-business-as-usual way.  I’ve tried to turn it off, occupy my mind with work or trivia or snacks, but to no avail.  My new AppleWatch© keeps beeping, and every time I look at my wrist, what would appear to be the punchline to some zany joke, but is, in fact, a breaking news item, pops up to taunt me.  Many people are recommending not saying his name as if that reaffirms the reality and the horror.  I’m down with that.  The sound has literally begun leaving a dog turd taste, (remember the first time you…well, maybe we don’t need to go there), in my mouth.  But, what has most affected my equilibrium, what I can’t accept, is that all of the elected, Republican members of Congress, (with two insignificant exceptions), have chosen the wrong side of so many obviously wrong v. right issues.  Oh…the apolitical part is where I nonpartisan-ly don’t hold the Democrats blameless for how insufferably fucked up government has become.  Nevertheless, in the Tea Party Era, the lock-step singlemindedness that repeatedly shows itself devoid of care or kindness has become synonymous with the Republican Party whose evil shoulder-angel advocates:

  • Dumping coal sludge in streams – unanimously wrong
  • Choosing a Secretary of Education who knows nothing about education – unanimous -2, (then proposing the elimination of the department all together)
  • Choosing an Attorney General with a well-documented history for a public disdain of the law, in particular, the rights of minorities – unanimous
  • An Environmental Secretary who has no respect for the environment – unanimous
  • Lessening regulations that require investment bankers to treat their investors fairly – unanimous
  • Hating every single line of the ACA without one proposal, (in over six years), for its replacement – unanimous
  • Reducing regulations that would make it more difficult for mentally disturbed people to buy guns – unanimous
  • Allowing Rick Perry or Ben Carson to be in charge of anything – unanimous

Alas…I’ve betrayed my thesis.
