Blowin’ in the Wind?

I have believed, (or, at least, pondered in the sci-fi lobe of my over-active imagination), for a very long time, that politics and religion and reckless ideology and ambition have become so complicated throughout the world, that only a common and universally existential threat, (cataclysmic asteroid collision, alien attack, untreatable foot fungus, Joel Osteen), could prompt a unified, interactive, human response.  Much of man’s abhorrent behavior temporarily morphs into its better nature in the face of catastrophe, but all of these namby-pamby current disasters in Texas, Florida, Mexico and the formerly habitable islands of Barbuda and St. Martin, (that would be facetious, for anyone whose sense of irony has been despoiled by POTUS-tweeting), won’t capture the long-lasting attention of those not directly affected.  We just don’t seem to get the part that we are truly all connected and codependent.  So, bring it on Planet Mongo because, (sorry, Bob), the answer ain’t blowin’ in the wind.
