I guess my bullshit filter has discounted so much of the blather that I lost track of just how unbalanced the negative, unsubstantiated deluge of mostly misinformation has become.  Suddenly I realize that the squeakiest wheels, hurling thunderbolts of impending Armageddon down upon those who would dare to stand up for social responsibility, a moral denouncement of despotic demagoguery and a conscientious respect for nature, have, perhaps, permanently damaged the desperately needed opportunity for legitimate, intelligent debate.  Lines in the sand have been drawn based on the proliferation of anything that is said loudly and long enough to be shared and shared again…and again, with blatant disregard for its source or veracity.  I would never suggest the silencing of any voice, (well, maybe some of the venomous, hate-filled ones clamoring for the annihilation of randomly designated infidels), but maybe, just maybe, the most bombastic naysayers could simply squeak less.
