The ‘H’ word. You know, the one toddlers pick up early on from familial and peer conversations, quickly embracing the power, despite, or perhaps emboldened by passionate reprimands for its overtly uncompromising assertion. Let’s face it, humans are programmed to hate, individually, in ethnic and socio-economic groups, logically or otherwise: authority, broccoli, opera/rap/jazz/pop/country, sub-titled movies, Warner Bros. Accounts (we’ll-get-to-it-whenever-we-feel–like-it-no-matter-what-your-contract-says) Payable, Hitler/Stalin/Pol Pot/Trump, phone/insurance/pharmaceutical/credit card companies, most plaids, Fox News/CNN/MSNBC, politicians, surprise parties and, most definitely, “those” people.
The most disturbing consequence of this, perhaps strongest of all emotions, is the irreconcilable impasse between those lined up on either side of so many fundamentally divisive yet essential issues. The evolution of mankind through the ages and the more recent, near-fifty-year purported progress of civil, racial and gender rights may have been merely a mirage; haters, hating nonetheless, only holding their hate close and publicly unexpressed. History is shamefully littered with the rise and fall of evil despots whose vitriol unleashed pent up feelings and gave voice to the worst behavioral prompting of our shoulder devils, and none more unapologetically unconnected, uncaring, unprepared or unconscionably evil as DJ Trump, for his malevolent agenda has no thoughtful purpose, no beneficial agenda, no rhyme, reason or rainbow’s end. He is chaos incarnate, blundering his soulless, blubbery physique hither and yon like the spoiled brat he has always been, bullying his spineless and uninformed minions to wade through one torrential shit storm after another.
I hate that I feel so hopeless and bleak when I really want to be imparting a much rosier outlook. However, if that’s what you came looking for, you shouldn’t have gone for a piece titled, I Hate You! I Don’t Really Care! Do U?
