So, Labor Day happens, summer draws its last steamy breath and the kids go back to school.  Seems rather normal.  No! Nothing is normal!  Labor Day’s a joke, as the purported 96% employed workforce is sinfully underpaid and caught in a downward spiral of a brightless, healthless and dreamless future.  Summer is the hell-on-Earth harbinger of the growing ravages of our national proclamation to disdain the in-our-face realities of climate change.  And school…unsafe, unpreparatory and unable to fulfill its tacit promise, that if you apply yourself, you will succeed.  Oh…and the best part…getting your supplies list and having that special time with your Mom or Dad or both…the shopping and the labeling and the smells of fresh, lined paper and petroleum-based binders and pencil cases…replaced by some Office Max version of “school”, click!…”grade”, click!, done, ouch!

I have taken to questioning my memories of better-time things and feelings, wondering if I may have crossed over into official old fogey status.  I’m pretty sure that I’ve yet to use the phrase, “Well, when I was a kid…”, in attempting to drive home a point about how much better things used to be…at least out loud.  But, I do think it, and crazily enough, though I posit that much of the simpler pace of my youth would better serve the present, the past that I most lament, ended a mere twenty months ago.  Since civility and policy and diplomacy, (more correctly, the lack thereof), became the relentless, twenty-four-hour-all-channel reality show, Crime Boss of Pennsylvania Avenue, I find that my nostalgia-related thoughts are grasping for the good old days of the early 2016’s when I wasn’t saddened by everything that my country stands for.  I hate being that guy who always has to add one more atrocity to any conversation, (blog), yet, I believe silence is giving in…and that’s not happening.

So, please pendulum, do your swing back thing. And, if you happen to have a Poe-like razor sharp blade that graphically and brutally eviscerates…well, I hope to see it posted on FaceBook, click!
