Yin/Yang

We are faced with choices, lots and lots of choices, every day.  Most are so seemingly inconsequential that they are made without conscious deliberation.  Others are more dire and can seriously impact our health and welfare and safety.  Often, time is a factor, requiring a quicker focus for background and fact-gathering.  Some of us rise to that challenge while others, maybe even an equal measure of others, procrastinate until their delayed opinions are uncounted or discarded.  Voting is the treasured right granted to the designated citizenry of every democracy.  It is the power and the voice of the individual to be an active part in the determination of all elements of governance.  Men and women have fought and bled and died for the right to vote and yet the privilege to do so has been too often and too widely gone unused.  In 2016, the non-voters created the narrowest of margins, allowing an electoral college win by Donald Trump. The result has been four years of chaos, governmental lawlessness leading to impeachment, the dismantling of decades-long international alliances, the back-peddling of hard-fought environmental protection regulations, racial hate-baiting from the President and the continuing failure of leadership to react in any logical, scientific manner to the deadly pandemic ravaging our country.  Anyone who squanders their right to choose, citing poor or unclear choice, a feeling of disenfranchised import or, worst of all, apathy is missing the most foundational element of freedom…a seat at the table of self-determination.  Sure, the seats are often broken or unbutt-worthy, but voting is not as much about what we have as what we want.  It is such an awesome power, that its suppression has been a tactic of dirty politics throughout our history, but never so much as evidenced by every utterance from every Trumpist.  This time it’s simple and everyone should do it.  This is a True/False, Yin/Yang ballot:

                           GOOD                     EVIL

Pick one!
