As retorts go, “Who Cares?”, is an inexplicable, early-learned, nearly universal mainstay of our otherwise varied and nuanced lexicons.  In childhood, it’s often the last-ditch non-sequitur when caught red-handed and develops through adolescence and adulthood into verbal shorthand for, “Go fuck yourself!”.  In most incidences, its usage, though a maddening impasse to any serious debate, is benign, but when it creeps into every slimy crevice of government, albeit spun by K Street mumbo jumbo, it threatens everything.  Does that seem like hyperbole?  Let me rephrase…it threatens FUCKING EVERYTHNG!

Who cares that American policy is to snatch children from the arms of their parents without any procedural means to subsequently reunite the family?  Just have some lacky make an announcement that the parents didn’t really want the kids anyway…so, who cares?

Who cares that American public education has dipped below that of many third-World countries?  Most of those kids are just thugs and criminals who don’t want to learn anything anyway…so, who cares?

Who cares that in America we empower the sanctity of for-profit health care over the wellbeing of our citizens?  That healthy/helpy stuff is just socialism…so, who cares?

Who cares that in America, the land founded on the radical principle that all men are created equal, that a mere one or two percent of our citizens control ninety percent, (and growing), of the wealth?  Free enterprise, right…so, who cares?

Who cares that 160 years after a bloody Civil War to end slavery and start us on a path to racial equality that people of color are still marching and advocating for basic human rights and dignity against the persistent, systemic inequities of education, economic opportunity and policing?  God wants America to be white and Christian, doesn’t he…so, who cares?

Who cares that a dumb-fuck, silver-spooned loser can cheat his way into the most powerful office on the planet and systematically dismantle immigration, decades-old alliances, environmental protection, the State Department, the intelligence community, the Justice Department, the Post Office, truth and the economy while flaunting his ineptitude to face, or even acknowledge the devastating pandemic that is sickening and killing us in mind-numbing numbers?  I fucking do!

…and, so should you.

Vote this prick and every one of his enablers back to the Stone Age where they might be able to fulfill their true self worth as sabre-tooth tiger snacks.
