Traditionally, this is my place holder blog, where I confess that I am so overwhelmed by the writing of my New Year’s poem, that I can’t get it up to muster a relevant post. Pandemically, I guess I have had more opportunity to get ahead of the fast-approaching New Year and I consequently find myself with only the events of the coming week to insert into my otherwise completed way, way, way too long list of rhymed couplets. So, what’s to talk about? A terrorist bombing in Nashville…not very Christmasy. Oh, the President auditioning for the part of the evil villain who tries to take over the world by creating pandemonium, letting every dastardly asshole on the naughty list out of prison, giving the finger to the hungry, the sick, the poor and the military, all while cheating at golf in the Florida sun…definitely not Christmasy. I mean, I’m not really all that Chritmasy, if truth be told, but I’m all in for the extra hugs and the good will toward men and the cookies and although there were fewer cookies and the hugging was woefully diminished and the good will seems nearly neutralized by the ill, I’m optimistically trying to put 2020 in the rearview and find a steadier, smoother road ahead. And, I wish that for all of you. Ho!
