Bipartisan

bi•par•ti•san

/bīˈpärdəzən/

adjective

involving the agreement or cooperation of two political parties that usually oppose each other’s policies

In essence, it’s simply the way civilized people behave.  Whether bi or tri or parliamentary, ideas get fleshed out amidst probative, well-intentioned, constructive debate and, after the shouting, name-calling and fist-pounding, more often than not an agreement is reached.  Rarely are all parties happy, but, in governing, when that process is focused on the betterment of the whole, it’s the best a non-utopian society can hope for.  Oh…and it’s the absolute foundation of democracy as it was so thoughtfully crafted by the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.  It’s essential, by the mere existence of its give and take, to the inclusionary mandate of a self-governing electorate…right?  Hell, no!  The creeping rift, the tear in the fabric of our two-party system has tumbled, free-fall into an abyss.  The push and pull, the yin and yang of the meaningful, honest exchange of ideas has literally become replaced by some version of The Body Snatchers.  Slowly, since the insidious puppetry government of Reagan preposterously and popularly suggested that deregulation and voodoo economics were somehow good for all, followed by the Bush era doubling down on the evangelical abhorrence to women’s health and Clinton’s blow job and rearing its unabashed, racist head against Obama, spawning the rise from the ooze of the incubus, Trump, Republicans have become issue-less.  They have no official party platform.  They have proposed no legislation other than the dismantling of the two-hundred-year effort to make us more perfect.  They are, at every turn, obstructionist, xenophobic, corrupt, racist and unrepresentative.  We can no longer pretend that there is hope or time to hang the fate of our future on some cockamamie concept of playing well with others, when the others are both evil and wrong.  We cannot survive the plain sight Republican re-write of hard-fought civil rights and moral progress.  Democrats need to uncharacteristically grow a giant pair and take these mothers down.  Fuck the filibuster!  Fuck the miscreant Supreme Court and the stacked federal judiciary!  Fuck every complicit Stepford Republican!  And…FUCK BIPARTISANSHIP!!!
