stu·pid
/ˈst(y)o͞opəd/
adjective
Very likely, I’m stupid. I’ve read the articles and listened to wiser, certainly more erudite disdainers of derogatory name calling describe, often in great detail, the Quixotic frivolity of calling out those who can’t or just won’t even try to get it. So, yes, it’s a fool’s errand to waste energy in an attempt to sway those who inexplicably feel enriched, empowered and emboldened by the gobbledygook and mumbo jumbo being fed to them through a Trump-down torrent of bullshit. However, the enormity of the social media soap box has spawned such a perpetual cacophony, true to the law of some very deep-thinking Greek philosopher wherein, (I may be paraphrasing), “stupid is louder”, I have begun, in a swooping crescendo, bordering on the hysterical, to shout through the noise to anyone not in need of big, primary-colored illustrations to get my gist. I wouldn’t want to be perceived as a ‘stupid’ bigot. Even though none of my best friends are…uh…stupid…I’m open to the possibility that a lot of stupid people might be very nice, but in a complex, interconnected society, when stupid rues the day, economies tumble, uncontrolled lawlessness ensues, governments collapse and the planet is abused to the point of uninhabitability. And that really is just plain STUPID.
